OBG Electronic Filing's Municipal Income Tax Electronic Filing Services provide online filing and payment for the following municipal taxes and forms:
Municipalities available as part of OBG Electronic Filing's Municipal Income Tax Electronic Filing services are listed by the name of the municipality, not the tax administrator. OBG Electronic Filing automatically insures tax data and payments are sent to the appropriate tax administrator (e.g. either the municipality or a designated tax administrator such as CCA or RITA).

A business must be a registered municipal taxpayer before OBG Electronic Filing can be used to electronically file with any municipality. New businesses must directly contact municipalities to complete any necessary registration requirements and to insure that the business has a reporting requirement with the respective municipality. OBG Electronic Filing can not offer municipal income tax registration services.
Some municipalities have locally-issued taxpayer identification numbers that must be entered on OBG Electronic Filing before forms can be created with that municipality. Those numbers can be obtained directly from the municipality as part of the registration process.
Generally speaking, Ohio businesses who are registered municipal taxpayers can use the OBG Electronic Filing Municipal Income Tax Electronic Filing Services to file with all the municipalities in which they're doing business.
However, OBG Electronic Filing's Net Profits Return currently may not be used by the following taxpayers:
Each time the Municipal Income Tax Electronic Filing Service is used to file a form, the user is asked to select the municipalities with which to file. Municipalities are selected by name, not the tax administrator or agency (such as CCA or RITA). Following the selection of the municipalities, data is entered. When data values can be different for each selected municipality, a separate line or field is provided.
It is not necessary to create a separate form on OBG Electronic Filing for each municipality. See below for more information. By creating online forms containing multiple municipalities, any data that is common to all municipalities is only entered one time. OBG Electronic Filing automatically generates and delivers separate forms for each municipality.
Incomplete work can be saved for later completion. Access to previously filed forms is also provided.
OBG Electronic Filing allows multiple municipalities to be added to any form to help reduce repetitious data entry. It is recommended that users create one online form with multiple municipalities rather than multiple forms with just one municipality on each. In particular, the Net Profits Return application requires that there is no more than one "set" of returns per tax year (one online form with multiple municipalities added).
When data values can be different for each selected municipality, a separate line or field is provided. Even though multiple municipalities may be part of the set, OBG Electronic Filing insures that separate tax returns or forms are sent to each individual municipality.
Payments can be made online using OBG Electronic Filing's ACH debit payment service. Users are asked to supply banking information after creating and choosing to file report(s). The date on which the return is filed and payment is made may be scheduled by indicating a future transaction date during the payment process. In order to pay by ACH debit, the following information is needed:
The bank account will show separate payments to each municipality (or designated tax administration agency, such as CCA or RITA), so there is a clear payment audit trail for the business' records.
Online payment using ACH debit is recommended. Any payments by other means should include a reference to the OBG Electronic Filing confirmation number generated when the return/report was filed to insure proper posting by the municipal tax administrator.
After filing, OBG Electronic Filing will automatically send tax data and ACH debit payment instructions directly and separately to the respective municipalities or their designated tax administration agency (such as CCA or RITA). One OBG Electronic Filing confirmation number assures that tax data will be reliably delivered to each municipality. The OBG Electronic Filing confirmation includes a time-stamp to validate the time and date of filing. Confirmations are issued only after the entire filing and payment process is completed.
OBG Electronic Filing's support staff is available to provide assistance with the online filing application. However, each municipal tax administrator will continue to service individual taxpayer accounts at the municipalities. Only municipal tax administrators and/or tax advisors can provide specific assistance related to municipal taxes, rules, and regulations.
Generally speaking, business taxpayers in Ohio can use the OBG Electronic Filing Municipal Income Tax Electronic Filing Services to file with all the municipalities in which they're doing business.
However, OBG Electronic Filing's 2005 Net Profits Return may not be used by the following taxpayers:
Please note that a business must be a registered taxpayer at the respective municipalities before OBG Electronic Filing can be used to electronically file. Some municipalities have locally-issued taxpayer identification numbers that must be entered on OBG Electronic Filing before forms can be created with that municipality.
The OBG Electronic Filing Net Profits Return is based on the Ohio Revised Code. The general steps are:
OBG Electronic Filing follows a "common bucket" approach so that data which is common to all municipalities is entered only once. Municipality-specific adjustments are then made individually based upon local provisions PDF in order to generate customized tax returns for each municipality. The individual municipal returns contain the same common data in addition to the municipality-specific information.
A full description of the tax calculation process is available here. PDF
Amended returns can be filed using OBG Electronic Filing. If the original filing was not made on OBG Electronic Filing, then a new return can be created and the "amended" status can be indicated during data entry.
If an original filing was made on OBG Electronic Filing, then an amended return starts by viewing a previously filed set of returns (from the archived filings) and choosing to amend.

However, each municipal tax administrator will continue to service individual taxpayer accounts at the municipalities. Only municipal tax administrators and/or tax advisors can provide specific assistance related to municipal taxes, rules, and regulations.
